Goodbye
Written by Kym Gouchie & Frank Moffatt, 2008

Her life changed, that autumn day
When the school bus came, took him away ay ye hey, hey hey hey
Fear ran through her heart, tearing the family apart
Her spirit died, when her little boy cried
Don’t let them take me, I don’t wanna go!
Don’t let them take me, Mommy tell them no!
Her tears welled up inside, as she turned and said ‘good-bye’

Her life changed, that summer day
When the policemen came and took him away ay ye hey, hey hey hey
Fear ran through her heart, tearing the family apart
Her spirit died, when the children cried
Don’t let them take him, Daddy don’t go!
Don’t let them take him, Mommy tell them no!
Her tears welled up inside, as she turned and said ‘good-bye’

Her life changed, that winter day
When the ambulance came and took him away ay ye hey, hey hey hey
Nowhere to run or hide, He bottled it up inside
Until that fateful day, He spread his wings and flew away hey hey hey

Hey hey ee hey ee hey hey hey hey hey
Hey hey ee hey ee hey hey hey hey hey
Hey hey ee hey ee hey hey hey hey hey
Hey hey ee hey eeeeeee

When we acknowledge the land, we are paying respect to the Indigenous Peoples who have cared for those lands since time immemorial. I believe that when we acknowledge the land, the ancestors are pleased and will look kindly upon us. I am committed to learning the Indigenous place names of all of the territories in which I travel. I currently reside in my beautiful ancestral territory, the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation also known as Prince George. BC Canada. Who's territory do you live on?
